Presentation to Jackpot winner Mrs O’Toole by John Donohoe
Ballon Community Bingo are delighted to present Catherine Brennan O’ Toole her winnings of our Jackpot, which accumulated to €3000 – which hasn’t been won since before the pandemic.
While there is so much uncertainty regarding returning to our ‘Hall Bingo’, we are thrilled to be able to provide a ‘Drive In Bingo’ in association with Burrin Celtic. Our ‘Online Bingo’ will return later in the year also, catering for all our patrons who prefer to play in the comfort of their own home.
Drive In Bingo is held every Saturday at 6pm in Burrin Celtic Soccer Grounds with plenty of parking, COVID compliant, shop, extra toilet facilities and superb sound system so you can hear from our PA system and also through your car radio frequency (108FM).
A special word of thanks has to go to all our volunteers and committee who work tirelessly to make the drive in bingo such a successful event.

Ballon Community Bingo has usually been held in the Ballon Community and Sports Centre until COVID had hit. In more recent times we have held our successful Drive In Bingo event when restrictions allowed in conjunction with Burrin Celtic Soccer Club. Now, with lockdown and travel restrictions still in place, the bingo is now going online! Our bingo is ran in aid of our local community, the parish of Ballon/Rathoe. The bingo has given support to many projects including the Ballon Community and Sports Centre, the Development of the Burrin Celtic Club Grounds -the new AstroTurf pitch and lighting, Rathoe Carpark and renovations and window instillations in local churches to name a few. We hope to create a sense of hope for other bingo halls that there are ways to adapt around these restrictions and also providing an outlet for players on a Saturday night for an hour or so. The bingo will take place Saturday Night at 8pm via Zoom. Books can be purchased on the ClubForce website/App -search for ‘Ballon Community Bingo’ and books are available under the ‘membership’ option. Alternatively you can find the link on the Ballon Community Bingo Facebook page. Books are on sale up until Saturday midday. Books will be emailed to our players on Friday and Saturday before the bingo to give people the opportunity to print their books, alternatively the book can be played on a second device! Players will also receive a zoom link to watch the bingo along with their books. Prize Money €3200. Books cost €8 for a single book and €12 for a double book. All support is greatly appreciated! The jackpot stops at €3000 and its ticket is called about half time. If not won, then a second jackpot is started so there is always a lot to play for. Books are sold in a multiple of options being suitable for all ages and the last sheet of the evening has a prize of €250

Last night, 21/12/13 was the first time it was held in the new Community Centre and there were special prizes attracting a record number as the pictures show.
This is an important fund raising activity for the parish and a real community service attracting players from ‘far and wide’
Breeda McDonald was the caller ably supported by a team of 10 volunteers.
