7/6/11 -Development Squad by Jason Whelan
Considering the age of Burrin Celtic F.C.’s Development Squad, as a coaching staff, we have been taken aback by the effort, commitment and willingness to improve that these young children have demonstrated this year. In the face of horrible pitch and weather conditions, Burrin Celtic’s Development Squad trained all winter, only going indoors when absolutely necessary . However, the work put in since last August was rewarded with a win in the inaugural Michael Mayling Perpetual Cup tournament which St. Fiacc’s hosted in Graigucullen. The trophy was named after Michael Mayling, the long-time secretary of that club who, unfortunately, passed away three weeks after the tournament.
Played in St. Fiacc’s National School, Graiguecullen, Burrin Celtic came from two goals down to draw with St. Fiacc’s 2-2. They then played Baltinglass and won comfortably 8-0. They then won the final game against St. Fiacc’s 1-0 due to an own goal.
As managers, it has been with astonished pride that we have seen these children develop in the fashion that they have, both as footballers and as young people. With the support that they have received from their families and each other, they have accomplished in friendly outings a record of 5 wins and a competitive record of two wins and one draw.
The club would like to thank all those who helped us as a coaching staff this year in any way, particularly parents, without whom we would not have realised half of any of the achievements that we have accomplished this year. With all that in mind, thanks to all again and here’s to hoping that next year will be even better.
30/5/11 -U12 Team.
This is Burrin Celtic’s U12 Team at dinner with their coach, Pat Bermingham in the The Valley football pitch. The team finished fifth in their league, the best finish for one of our competitive sides in years.
The team presented Pat with a cert to show their appreciation for his work throughout the year and to thank him for the dinner!
The food was courtesy of Jimmy’s Bistro, Ballon.

On Saturday 12/2/11 The U10’s team played against St. Pat’s of Carlow and had a good game resulting in a 4 – 2 win.
The Camara Man practiced action photography and now appreciates those pictures shown in the sporting pages.
His favourite picture is this one even though its not an ‘action’ shot:
David and Goliath
Others are shown below. Well done to the coaches and supporters too.
