This play set in the 60's in rural Ireland tells the tale of two young men trying to get into a dance hall but having insufficient money. One girl, with her friend, is waiting for one of the men to turn up and take her in. But he's late and they go in without him. When they eventually turn up they try to cadge their way in by divers means with no success. They are variously taunted by a rich kid with money and a car, who ends up with the girl. An inebriate plays his part in adding to their woes long with a bouncer not afraid to use force. Although it might be seen as a comedy it really portraits the poverty and lack of opportunity of the times.
