Forty years ago
Forty years ago six local lads attached to Ballon Athletic Club won the senior cross country race in the County. In December 2010 they met for a group picture to celebrate the occasion organised by John Blanche.

It has been said before but it is worth saying it again. Ballon has a reputation for possessing a formidable community spirit and John Blanche epitomises that spirit.
When the Carlow senior cross country championship takes place on the 2/1/11, he, his team mates and Ballon will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous win when a power packed performance from Ballon AC took the Odlum Cup for the one and only time.
