(
Submitted by Michael Dawson)

The clock was turned back 25 years at the Ballon GFC annual Dinner Dance in Ballykealey House Hotel on Saturday night as the members of the team that won the club’s only Carlow Intermediate Football Championship in 1981 were feted. Nearly all the members of the team, which defeated Nurney by 0.13 to 0.3 a quarter of a century ago, were on hand to accept special commemorative medals. There was tremendous applause as each player in turn was called forward to receive his memento from George Coleman who trained the team to victory.
