U-12 Camogie Final

Following one the best camogie finals played in Dr. Cullen Park on Wednesday night last, Burrin Rangers were very unlucky to be defeated by rivals St. Mullins in the Carlow U-12 “C” Championship final on a scoreline of 2-1 to 2-0.
The Burrin Rangers team opened the game in great fashion with two first half goals by Ciara Buckley and lead at half time by 2-0 to 0-0. St. Mullins rallied in the second half and got two early goals. Burrin Rangers defeated heroically and kept the game level and were unlucky not to have a third goal. With time almost up St. Mullins managed to score the only point scored in all the camogie finals in Dr. Cullen Park on Wednesday night and take the championship. Great credit must go to the team manager Jarlath Bolger, mentors Maurice Buckley and Annette Holden for rallying the girls after some big defeats in the opening rounds of the championship.
Team: Karen Nolan, Aisha Mullins, Orla Kenny, Nicole Keogh Dowling, Caithlin Doyle, Grainne Mullins, Ysobel Castle, Danielle Flood, Aine Kennedy, Ciara Buckley, Sarah Bermingham, Rebecca Kelly. It was an outstanding team performance by the girls and great credit must go to their coaches Maurice Buckley, Annette Holden, Barbara Jordan and Jarlath Bolger. Pat O’Brien, Chairman of Carlow Camogie Board presented the cup to Grace Donald, captain much to the excitement of all the girls and their families who proudly displayed their green and white colours in the stand.

Yesterday evening saw the official launch of Burrin Rangers Camogie Club. Starting with outdoor training under the rare blue sky of early spring and followed by refreshment in the club house 60 registered girls started a journey of opportunity in one of the fastest field sports. As part of the world's largest amateur sporting organisations there is the opportunity to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of sporting greatness. Twelve months ago there were ten registered players and a question mark. To-day there are 60 and great ambition to succeed. This is a measure of entrepreneurial sporting ambition made possible by a lot of hard work and good will by so many individuals and clubs.
