2/6/14 Summer Competition
Today was the 25th anniversary of Ballon/Rathoe hosting this competition. As usual it attracted large numbers of aspiring athletes together with their families, trainers and managers. There were 21 competing teams from Carlow, Wexford, Laois, Offaly, Kildare and Dublin. Racing, Relays, Shot Putt, High Jump, Long Jump, Mini Javelin were the main events. The stewardship was first class with a great emphasis on safety. The race tellers and medal presenters were fully occupied and the big tent ran with a clockwork efficiency. It’s so good to witness the support given to these youngsters enjoying the fresh air, exercise, team building and friendly competition.
In the big tent are Heather Zeraffa, Mrs English Haydn, John Mullins, Dick Fitzgerald and Willie Byrne
