Volunteers on the day

Siopa held its Christmas event on the 25/11/18. It was well attended and a great show. One of the highlights was the Fashion Show where the majority of clothes were from the racks of the shop. On Tuesday next they will be offered at a reduced price.

A full narrative will follow but in the meantime let these pictures tell the Story.

Siopa Glas Celebration Christmas Fair.

‘Community with a special heart’.  That was the message that come across on Sunday 25th November.

While Ballon is the heart of Carlow, Siopa Glas has proved itself time and time again as the heart and hub of Ballon.

Pages about this Christmas Celebration could be written. Suffice to say  our volunteers, Eco Fashion Models and all who helped to make the event the huge success it was,  thank you all.  Our community spirit has been ignited.

Great leadership skills by many.  When Mrs Clause, the Elfs, the snowman were ready and dressed up for the day ahead they headed out the door to   Café de Mode, and Joe Doyles.   It was all great fun and frolics!

Ethna Quirke   Manager of’ Baby Room’ Business in Carlow and Columnist with the local Nationalist  facilitated excellent Christmas craft workshops with the children.  This kept them all occupied and happy just before Santa himself arrived.  Santa has come from Ballinabranna  had to go to Clonegal and more places during the afternoon so he did not delay too long.  Loads of places on his list.

By the time three o clock arrived all seats in the house were full and the fun Eco Fashion show got underway.

The fun Fashion show gave a platform to demonstrate, or serve as the culmination of the work of Siopa Glas.  The whole show was environment focused where outfits were  all about recycling or reimaging.  The current craze for Vintage offers great chances for dressing up for that special occasion or just for fun.

People from all walks and all ages became pop up models for the occasion.

Included were gardeners, assistant school principle, schoolchildren, TD from the Dail,

Local Councillor, active retired, Musician, PHD student, and more.

Refreshments were served all day and thanks to all who provided homemade cakes and more.

Like to thank the local Nationalist for sending out a photographer, Our own local photographer for taking the many pictures and his never ending work with the Ballon Improvement Website

www.ballonvillage.com.  Pictures also on Facebook pages.
